Administrators can easily enable I’m InTouch’s Remote Wake-Up feature from their I’m InTouch Premium web account. All you need to do is:
- Login to your I’m InTouch Premium Administrator web account from https://locator.01com.com. You do not need login from the computer you are providing remote access to.
- The List of Computers screen will be displayed. Place checkmarks next to the computers whose Remote Wake-Up properties you would like to configure and then click the User settings/Activate link.
- The next screen displayed is the User Settings page. Make sure that each computer has checkmarks in the Remote Wake-Up Enabled box next to its name. We also recommend checking the Remote Wake-Up Proxy box so that any computer can act as the proxy to wake up the other computers on your network. Remember, at least one computer must have Wake-Up Proxy enabled and be turned on in order for other computers to remotely powered on.

No1Reviews.com reviewed the I’m InTouch remote access solution recently and described it as a “fully featured remote access software.”
One feature of I’m InTouch mentioned in the review is the remote wake-up functionality that allows you to remotely power on your computer anytime you need access to it and then shut it down when you are finished. This is perfect for users who are constantly traveling and do not want to leave their PCs on all the time just so they can have remote access to them. With I’m InTouch, you can shut your PC down when you leave with complete confidence that you can remotely access it anytime you need to work, access your Outlook, or transfer files.

Alan Stevens over at Personal Computer World reviewed I’m InTouch 7.1 and described it as “a hosted service that delivers more than just remote control,” and with “a number of features designed to make it stand out.”
One of the points covered in the review is regarding I’m InTouch Premium’s remote wake-up feature. Unlike other remote access software solutions, with I’m InTouch Premium you do not have to leave your PC on all the time to be able to access it. As long as you have more than one PC on your network, any computer that is already powered on can remotely wake-up your PC when you need to remotely access it.

Unlike other remote access solutions, with I’m InTouch Premium’s Remote Wake-Up feature, you CAN remotely access your PC even if it is shut down. All you need is one other computer on the same network to be on and I’m InTouch Premium will automatically wake-up your computer when you try and access it. Think of all money you will save on your electricity bill by not having to leave your computers on all the time just to remotely access them. Plus, you’ll always have access to your files and programs no matter where you are, never be denied remote access to your PC because it was accidentally shut down.
Turning on Remote Wake-Up is easy:
- Login to your I’m InTouch Premium administrator account at https://locator.01com.com.
- From your List of Computers page, place checkmarks next to the computers whose Remote Wake-Up properties you wish to change and click the User settings/Activate link.
- On the User Settings page, ensure that each computer has check marks in the boxes for Remote Wake-Up Enabled. We also recommend doing the same for Remote Wake-Up Proxy so that any computer can act as the proxy to wake up the other computers. Remember, at least one computer must have Wake-Up Proxy enabled and be turned on in order for other computers to be remotely powered on.
Your computer is now ready to remotely powered on as needed. See here for more information about using I’m InTouch Premium’s Remote Wake-Up feature.

Earth Day is a great time to look at ways that we can all reduce our footprints on the environment. There are many ways that using the I’m InTouch remote access software can help you accomplish this. Here are a couple:
Work from Home
Instead of commuting to work everyday, securely remotely control your office workstation from your home PC. You can do from home everything you would normally do on your office workstation including run programs, use Outlook, print documents, and transfer files, all while helping the environment by keeping your car off the road. Even just telecommuting 1 day a week helps but why not 2, 3, 4, or even 5 days? With I’m InTouch, it’s just like being in the office.
Remotely Power On your PC
A huge environmental (as well as financial) benefit of using I’m InTouch Premium or Server Edition is that you can remotely wake-up your PC when you need access. Leaving your computer on all the time wastes electricity and money. Unlike other remote access solutions, with I’m InTouch you can leave your computer off when it is not in use and still be able to remotely access it as needed. Whether you are going home for the night or leaving for a long business trip, you can shut your PC down with complete confidence that you can access it as needed with I’m InTouch.

When a user tries to access a shutdown PC, I’m InTouch Premium will automatically detect that it is off and allow the user to remotely power it on.

No changes required on the firewall
I’m InTouch’s private portal architecture (US Patent #6,928,479) ensures no ports are being opened on the firewall when using any of our Remote Access features. In other words, there is no need to bypass or compromise the existing IT security established by the company resulting in an extremely secure connection.
Remote Wake-up architecture (patent-pending)
With our patent-pending remote wake-up feature users have the ability to remotely power-up their PCs or they can choose to “Shut Down” their PCs when leaving the office to conform to corporate security or environmental policy.
Computer Name, Login Name and Password are the first Layers of Security
Users at a remote location launch a browser and connect to the Location server at http://locator.01com.com. The user enters the Computer Name (set during registration) and secures the connection with SSL. A unique Computer Name is necessary to allow the Location server to establish a remote connection to the I’m InTouch “host” computer. One must then correctly input a further sequence of security - Login name and Password. The password can be
changed as often as the user wishes.
Login Name / Password are on the user’s PC, not on the Central Server:
Integrity of our users’ information is critical and we continually work to maintain
the highest degree of security possible for our customers. Both the Login name and Password are stored on the user’s computer and never passed on to any other server, thus protecting against un-authorized access.
Session is 100% secured by SSL encryption:
I’m InTouch supports Secure Socket Layer (SSL) 128 bit encryption for users. This ensures that the information being communicated over the Internet from the I’m InTouch PC to the Local computer is not visible to anyone except the authorized user.
Secure connection from the browser to the user’s PC
I’m InTouch operates through firewalls to allow secure remote access for users. It uses a unique “hybrid” architecture to achieve a secure connection. Users can freely choose between two secure methods at any time (with a single mouse click) to best fit their technical and work requirements:
1. Indirect communication session (through a central server)
2. Direct communication session (directly from the remote browser to the user’s PC)
